WriterBuddy's detector runs, costs nothing and asks for no account. The reason people go looking for something else is usually one of three: they want the checks kept somewhere, they want a published limit instead of an unstated one, or they want to know what the paid tier costs before signing up.
Paste some text or load the example to estimate AI likelihood.
Checked 16 August 2026. The page at https://writerbuddy.ai/ai-content-detector returns HTTP 200 and carries an H1 of "Free AI Content Detector". A real input area is present in the markup, a fifteen-row text field with the placeholder "Type or paste your words", followed by a submit control. This is a working tool, not a landing page pointing somewhere else.
The page makes these claims in its own words:
The footer reads "Copyright © 2026 WriterBuddy. All rights reserved." No operating company, registered address or jurisdiction is named on the page.
Worth flagging plainly, because it affects how you plan around the tool.
The marketing copy promises "Unlimited Free AI Checks: Experience the freedom of unlimited AI checks for free. Verify the authenticity of your content as many times as needed without any cost." The application's own interface strings, shipped in the same page, include a state headed "Sorry, You've reached your daily usage limit", whose message invites you to sign up for a free account and whose button reads "Get 2000 Free Credits".
So an anonymous daily ceiling exists in the product, and its number is not published anywhere on the page. That is not a scandal. It is a very ordinary anti-abuse limit. But "unlimited" and a daily-limit screen cannot both be operative, and if you are planning a batch of checks, the honest expectation is that you will meet a wall at some undisclosed point.
Separately: no input length is published. Not a word count, not a character count. You find out by pasting.
WriterBuddy's own page distinguishes a "Premium AI Detector" from the free one, and attributes GPT-4 detection to the premium version. It does not say what premium costs.
Checked 16 August 2026: writerbuddy.ai/pricing, /plans, /price, /premium and /upgrade all return 404. A pricing route exists at app.writerbuddy.ai/pricing and returns HTTP 200, but its content is rendered client-side after authentication, so no plan names, prices or allowances are visible on the public web. Third-party sites quote figures. We are not repeating them, because a review site is not the vendor, and a price we cannot read on WriterBuddy's own page is a price we will not print.
Practically: if you want the premium detector, you will need to create an account to find out what it costs.
Your text is English and you check it occasionally. The tool is free, loads fast and asks nothing of you. For a blogger checking their own drafts, that is the whole job, done.
You want the detector next to the writing tools. WriterBuddy's own interface refers to 40 or more AI writing tools behind a free account, and the detector sits in the same product as the generators, rewriters and headline tools. If your loop is write, check, revise, staying inside one product beats stitching two together.
You want a monthly allowance without a card. 2,000 credits a month with "No CC required" is a real offer, and it is a gentler on-ramp than a trial that expires and starts charging.
You value the no-storage claim. WriterBuddy states it does not store your content. If you are checking material you are not comfortable leaving on a server, that claim is the feature. Note that it is also exactly why there is nothing to look up later. You cannot have both.
You are not building a paper trail. If nobody is going to ask you to substantiate the check, a saved record is dead weight.
For a casual English-language user, WriterBuddy is a perfectly reasonable place to stay. What follows is for people with a different requirement.
The moment somebody else has to see the result, a screenshot becomes the weakest link in the chain. There is no timestamp anyone can verify, no record of exactly which text was submitted, and no way to show a pattern across a set of documents rather than a single lucky paste.
The second break point is volume. Twelve articles from four freelancers, every month, is not a pasting job. It needs upload, or bulk, or an API.
The third is the undisclosed limit. Anything you cannot see the edge of, you cannot schedule around.
All figures below come from each vendor's own live pages, checked 16 August 2026. Blank cells mean the vendor does not publish the figure, not that we could not be bothered.

If your text is not in English, WriterBuddy tells you outright that it is the wrong tool, and so are we. NeuralWriter is the only entry above claiming broad multilingual coverage, and its page says it does that by routing your text through five third-party detection services at once. Read that before pasting anything confidential into it.
The box at the top of this page runs anonymously: 3 checks a day, pooled across our AI Detector and Document Detector, up to 1,000 words each, with a 25 word minimum. Scores come back banded rather than as a bare percentage. Below 30 reads "likely human-written", 30 to 69 reads "mixed signals", 70 and above reads "likely AI-generated". A band is harder to over-read than a decimal.
Sign in with a free account and you get 60 checks a day at up to 5,000 words, and each scan is written to Scan History. That history is not gated behind payment. Any signed-in user has it, free accounts included. It is the single thing a no-storage tool cannot offer by design.
Paid tiers, all real, with annual billing at 25 percent off: Starter $9.99 monthly or $7.49 annual, adding sentence-level analysis, PDF export and 200 checks a day. Pro $19.99 or $14.99 annual, adding unlimited checks, a Chrome extension and a REST API. Business $39.99 or $29.99 annual, adding teams and branded reports. Enterprise $79.99 or $59.99 annual. File upload, URL scanning and bulk scanning are available on paid plans.
Our detector is an English-only ensemble built on DeBERTa, RoBERTa and ELECTRA. It has a documented false-positive tendency against writers who learned English as a second language, whose careful, formal prose can read as machine-generated to models trained largely on native output. If you are assessing ESL writers, do not use any score, ours included, as a finding. Use it as a reason to look at drafts and ask questions.
English text, occasional checks, nothing to prove later: WriterBuddy is fine, stay. Something has to exist tomorrow, or go into a report, or run over forty files: that is when you need history, export and bulk.
writerbuddy.ai/ai-content-detector is free and usable without an account. WriterBuddy also describes a separate "Premium AI Detector" with GPT-4 detection. The price of that premium tier is not published on writerbuddy.ai.https://writerbuddy.ai/ai-content-detector, checked 16 August 2026. Live input field, English-only FAQ answer, free versus Premium detector wording, no-storage claim, credit offer, daily-limit interface string, footer.writerbuddy.ai/pricing, /plans, /price, /premium, /upgrade all returned HTTP 404 on 16 August 2026; app.writerbuddy.ai/pricing returned HTTP 200 with no publicly rendered plan detail.https://www.editpad.org/tool/ai-content-detector and /tool/plans, checked 16 August 2026.https://neuralwriter.com/content-detector-tool/, checked 16 August 2026.https://plagiarismdetector.net/ai-content-detector and /pricing, checked 16 August 2026.The deeper head-to-head: feature table, where GPTZero wins, where TextSight wins, and migration steps.
